My Dory and variations of it are made after memories of visits to some of the fishing ports of Newfoundland.
The real ones, though, were sturdy as the rocky shores of the island and the 'Newfie' fishermen who rowed them, to haul their catch of
fish home from the Grand Banks.
My models are a little more russet, but to me they represent one of my favorite small boats. Built flat bottomed and single
planked for simplicity, and assembled with birch, redwood, pine, mahogany and cedar, as variations in time, materials and
disposition prescribe.
